The spectacular annual Punakha tshechu festival 2025 in Bhutan will be held at the Punakha dzong. This festival is different from the other regular ones and the performers dramatize the scenes of the Shabdrung era. On the last day of the festival, a large tapestry (Throngdroel) of Guru Rinpoche is unfurled. The local population and the people from other places come to witness the festival and get blessed by the Throngdroel. The people believe that the mere sights of the throngdroel can liberate them from their sins and bad karmic cycles.
